Serbia Train (ST) Engineering Due Diligence – Passenger Train Depot (PTD) Rehabilitation and Expansion Engineering Due Diligence.


Project description

The objective of this assignment was to assist the Client by reviewing the estimated costs and identifying any engineering risks associated with the design and construction of the facility located on international Corridor X railway line.

The engineering design assessment team conducted site visit, reviewed available design drawings, technical reports and other related documents with the specific goals of assessing the adequacy of the proposed facilities in terms of their capacities, as well as the design elements for each of the facilities, by ensuring that required standards are maintained in terms of railway technical passenger stations, safety, conformance to governing design standards and local practices.

In assessing each of the design documents identified, a thorough approach was applied to compare the elements outlines in the engineering drawings with the relevant local standards and/or guidelines.

  • Review of the relevant design and costing documentation related to the proposed investment
  • Physical inspection of the site and the proposed locations for new construction and track-laying
  • Review of quantities and unit costs, i.e. details of design and construction and installation method; estimated quantities; assumed unit costs for materials, equipment and services and comparison with current market prices; estimated all-in construction cost (including all materials, equipment, etc.) and comparison with the market prices.
  • Assessment of the proposed project works
  • Proposal for engineering and other risks and the mitigating measures
  • Preparation of the cost summary including contracting strategy and contingencies for the unforeseen works
