JUDICIAL INFRASTRUCTURE ASSESSMENT

The overall objective of this project was to strengthen the independence, efficiency, quality and accountability of the judiciary enabling it to fight against all forms of crime trough more efficient criminal justice system in the Republic of Serbia


Project description

The scope procured through this assignment is ultimately intended to contribute towards the implementation of the National Judicial Reform Strategy and the Action Plan and, in particular, for addressing the challenges of the judicial infrastructure.

The main expected project results are:

- Result 1- Enhanced model court guideline and first model prosecutors’ office guideline available.
- Result 2 - Judicial Infrastructure Assessment completed, data-base-, up-dated, - needs identified pertaining to reconstruction/renovation of buildings and/or additional spaces in which courts and prosecutors’ offices are seated, and ICT infrastructure needs identified- and prioritized.
- Result 3 - Technical documentation for prioritised works and ICT equipment finalized.


 ABOUT THE JUDICIAL INFRASTRUCTRE

The judicial infrastructure experiencing the lack of courtrooms, lack of interview rooms in PPOs and generally lack of space, lack of accessibility for people with limited mobility, poor working environment and significant maintenance challenges due to premises being in buildings that are designated heritage sites and/or were not designed originally for the specific use.

Project purpose
To improve the infrastructure of judicial bodies by establishing technical conditions for reconstruction and/or additional spaces needed and upgrade of ICT infrastructure of buildings in which court and prosecutors’ offices are seated in order to enable them to perform their tasks.

  • Facilitate Selection of 10 Priority Buildings
  • Prepare Technical Documentation for Reconstruction/Renovation
  • Prepare the ICT Specification and Needs Assessment
  • Identify and Prioritize Improvements to ICT Infrastructure
